Conducting the Environmental Equity Investigation & Mitigation Plan

EJE is working with the City to conduct an independent, transparent and comprehensive Environmental Equity Investigation (EEI) that documents the lived experiences of residents subject to environmental injustices; analyzes cumulative impacts on their well-being and quality of life, and examines their root causes.

The Environmental Equity Investigation will be the basis for an EJ Mitigation Plan, to direct specific changes in City policies, practices, and programs. The City Council has approved a budget for a consultant to lead this investigation. EJE conducts regular listening sessions and community forums where residents can discuss EJ and environmental equity issues, with the goal of identifying how they impact the quality of life in BIPOC and low-income neighborhoods. The information we gather from these listening sessions will inform the City's investigation on where to focus its attention.
